My feelings at the beginning of the course


Throughout my undergrad, I had few classes that taught me about assessment and evaluation. Out of the 35 classes throughout my undergrad I had two classes, EDBE 8P18 and EDBE 8P28, in which I learned about assessment. In these classes, we explored issues related to instruction and assessment of “of”, “for”, and “as” learning. We briefly explored these concepts and looked at a few sample lesson plans. Therefore, I am not feeling overly confident about my current understanding of assessment and the purpose of assessment. I am unsure about the skills and practices associated with assessment in the classroom. Because of my minimal knowledge of assessment, I am anxious about implementing it into my teaching practice. I wish I had learned more about those concepts in my undergrad. Therefore, my goals for this class is to gain a deep understanding of assessment, evaluation and reporting and be able to showcase my understanding of assessment through the lesson plans I create.
